Evolution and Awareness

Introduction

According to science evolution is evolving at an infinitely slow pace. Time marches on regardless of our seemingly minute lifespans, which grace this earth for if we are lucky seventy or so years. It is recognized by science that our last great step in genetic evolution was way back in history many mellenia ago when Homo Erectus had a Quantum leap forward in awareness, into our current model of the Human Organism Homo Sapien1

It has also been validated that this quantum evolutionary shift considerably expanded the capacity of Homo Sapien to function and understand more intelligently. If you study the anatomy of the brain you will see the surface area of the cerebral cortex is very convoluted and folded in on itself. Science believes that the quantum leap from Homo Erectus to Homo Sapiens caused the surface area of the brain to increase by one hundred times. This *100 fold increase in cerebral cortex surface area also meant a similar increase in Brain Neurons making possibly 1 Billion extra neural circuits which theoretically could be tapped into. Needless to say we have a lot of dormant circuitry hardwired into our organism that is untapped. This complex adaptation 2 has meant that our species has survived as top of the food chain with so-called greater intelligence than lesser species or manifestations of our creator.

Most fields of science presently believe only in objective proof whereby they can quantify their results and produce an outcome. A scientific model or theory must be replicable or must be able to be duplicated by following certain steps to produce an outcome. Now when it comes to subjective experiences of mind, consciousness, feelings, intuitions etc. they want proof, scientifically validated proof before they take on board another model or theory as a possibility for mainstream evolutionary theory. Our evolutionary genetic material (DNA) is passed on by our parents. They in turn received their DNA from their parents and so forth. DNA is said to be our evolutionary blueprint, which contains enough information and intelligence to build a whole human organism.

Luckily intelligence is not only the gift of DNA but abounds in all thoughts, emotions, and all physiological processes. Neurotransmitters and cells have vast intelligence; communication is going on constantly in order to maintain homeostasis and survival in general. The Immune system 3 for example has a fantastic memory and recognition capacity, which detect invading microorganisms and pathogens. They quickly detect, seek out and destroy invaders in a healthy body, which has a strong immune system. This incredibly complex structure also has a mind, but can anybody say where the mind is located. Is it on top of the shoulders or in the big toe or in the little finger, no it can not be said that the mind is somewhere and not everywhere else in the human body? The whole organism functions as a whole to complete its "journey of self discovery".

If we look deeper than the cellular level to the atomic and subatomic level you will come across energy or is it intelligence exchanging electrons, permuting and combining to form new atoms or elements. Intelligence is everywhere although we may not be able to view it's source or see it or touch it. If you look outside into the sky and keep traveling away from your body you would never find the end because it is infinite and you would die of old age anyway. In the same way if you look into yourself beyond the tissues, muscles, organs, bones, cells you would eventually be perceiving the atomic level of vibrating energy, sound and light which keeps on expanding into the infinite. You will soon see the dilemma that sooner or later an intelligent person must come to the conclusion that this infinite intelligence that just is must have a creator.

Quantum Physics and Yoga

Spiritual Evolution

Science says that creation and time is the result of the Big - Bang 4. But Quantum Physicists are now theorizing the possibilities of there being multi dimensions beyond time. This three dimensional dimension is only relevant for our gross physical body. Professor Stephen Hawking possibly the greatest physicist since Einstein, believes that these dimensions which are beyond our present state of awareness do in fact exist are as real as the dimension in which we are experiencing life at present. He concedes "why was all of this created just for us, we are just a minute spec of dust in an infinite galaxy". However he believes that "There must be a meaning".

Beyond the replication of the species through passing on our DNA down to our children there is also the matter of our deeper than conscious Pandora's Box. Our inner universe, our subconscious and unconscious mind, or using Carl Jung’s Model the Collective Unconscious may hold the storehouse and seeds of our maybe past lives, experiences.

Reincarnation

Reincarnation is an integral part of the philosophies that have existed in the East for many thousands of years. It is mentioned in the Vedas, Upanishads, Tantra Shastras and Buddhist Texts to name just a few that we exist occupying a multi dimensional body, in multidimensional spheres of experience (Lokas). We incarnate not only to produce progeny but also to evolve spiritually. Our awareness has to be gradually transformed in accordance to our karmic debt until we are at one with the creator.

This realization through inner communion (Samadhi) enables one to go beyond the circle of birth, death, and rebirth. This samsara is called the wheel of life, where we go to school to learn the science of the spirit (spiritual lessons). This preparation is for our next job, and we are dispatched indefinitely until we have deleted all of our Karma's through selfless service and the perfection of the highest Nirvana of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Unless we transform our awareness and really plug into Cosmic Consciousness "Maha Kundalini" it is all blind faith and theory. But concerning blind faith Paramahamsa Satyananda once said, " that if faith can enlighten you, go ahead because means are not important, the result is what counts". This is one of the great things about the Tantric Philosophy that Paramahamsaji has adopted during his life.

Use the tools at your disposal, it is the transformation that is important for your spiritual advancement. It is said by Masters who have experienced it, that in the highest state of bliss in Nirvikalpa Samadhi, past incarnations are seen, different lives are experienced and revealed. This Jnana, wisdom and revelation is not transmitted or revealed to just anyone. They have to earn it through years of perfecting their meditation (Tapasya), renunciation and inner communion. Many have walked this path to perfection, which is said to be like walking on a swords edge. They ascend to the pinnacle of spiritual evolution and become one with the creator. Such is the path of Great Bhakta's and yogis like Swami Sivananda, Christ, Buddha, Lahiri Mahasay, Adi Shankaracharya, all the great founders of religions and ancient spiritual orders.

 Awareness

Awareness is said to truly awaken from its slumber when Kundalini, the great spiritual force awakens and ascends through the Brahma Nadi of Sushumna. This event Teleports for want of a better word, the seekers awareness away from the shackles of the body.

What is awareness? What is Prana? What is Mind? What is Spirit? What is body? Are they all the same or are they all aspects of our spiritual Vehicle. These are the things that you may ponder during or after an event like this. Does our fear of the unknown break the awareness and bring us back to the known body. These event signals a profound shift in awareness to the right direction in which we may eventually one day uncover the secrets of real spiritual life.

In Autobiography of a Yogi 5 by Paramahamsa Yogananda Giri (which is an international best seller, published in 1950) there is a chapter devoted to uncovering the deepest esoteric mysteries. It concerns reincarnation, Metaphysics, Karma and the true purpose of existence on earth. In Chap 43 "the resurrection of Sri Yukteswar" we are treated to rare wisdom through a dialogue between, Sri Yukteswar Giri (whom had just left his physical body in Mahasamadhi, Death) and his devoted disciple Paramahamsa Yogananda. Sri Yukteswar was the chief monastic disciple of the great Kriya Yoga Master of Benares Lahiri Mahasay6.

This whole chapter greatly elucidates the Metaphysics of the Astral and Causal dimensions, which are beyond our gross physical realm of experience. Resurrection as everyone knows is life after the death of the body. Sri Yukteswar appeared or should I say materialized to impart instructions to his mourning successor Yogananda. His materialization was in a flesh and blood body, not an astral body like in a vision etc.

Sri Yukteswar was a master Kriya Yogi who reformed his physical body from the prana and atoms of his astral body and gave Darshan and Satsang to his disciple Yogananda. Their conversation or should I say Telepathic conversation was documented so that all could share in the revelations. It describes in detail the structure of the inner universes the Lokas and how they function. The subtle Astral and Causal dimensions are explained in great detail along with our creators dream, that all should go beyond Karma's, Selfish desires and learn perfect actions or codes of spirituality, thereby facilitating perfect attunement and communion with the highest self.

Paramahamsaji has revealed this phenomena in his early teachings 7 Text. During his Tapasya in seclusion at Gangotri (in the Himalayas), he practiced intense pranayama and his body materialized in different places of India at the same time. He gave Satsang to chelas (students) while his physical body was in Gangotri in Deep Samadhi. Swami Sivananda also visited Paramahamsaji after his death (Maha- Samadhi) in what Paramahamsaji perceived as a Flesh and Blood body.

It appears that when you merge with Sushumna in Samadhi that many the laws of nature are at your disposal. Paramahamsaji said at the time that it just happened spontaneously, but it appeared to be an important experiment for him. This is what I would call a true scientist going beyond all known boundaries and coming out victorious (Jaya).

Deja Vu

Lahiri Mahasay was once asked by a group of Pundits (Philosophical scholars) at Benares (Varanasi) to have a Satsang on truth. He then proceeded to adopt his asana (Padmasana), stop his breath (Kevala Kumbhaka) and dive into Nirvikalpa Samadhi to the experience of absolute silence, Bliss and truth (Satchidananda). His amazes audience were utterly not amused because after his Samadhi he left the stage without uttering a single word. He had taught them spiritual lessons that they had only read about in the Holy Texts.

Truth is revealed in absolute silence (Mouna) beyond the mind /intellect/ ego and breath, in the highest Nirvana of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. He was a true master of Kriya Yoga who left this world in 1895.

In 1995 after studying Yoga at Bihar Yoga Bharati for four months I left Munger for a week with an Indian friend and travelled over to Buddha Gaya (Buddha's place of Enlightenment) and then on to the Mystical Holy City of Benares (Varanasi). There I phoned and visited Sibendu Lahiri who is the great grandson of Lahiri Mahasay .It was Christmas day 1995 and as I approached the great Masters house "Satyalok" I felt the strong spiritual vibrations that permeated the area. I also felt a strong feeling of returning to somewhere that I had been before (many of us must have had this before), maybe in a past life.

India is like that, it is so ancient and who knows many of us may feel just at home in India as we do back home. I wonder why?

The realms leading to heaven (Satyaloka) are mentioned in the ancient Vedas and Upanishads, but in the - Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 8 there is a verse or a chant, which describes the sannyasins greatest wishes. In the third Brahmana V27 there is a prayer of ascension (three Verses -Yagus) it says:

Asato maa sadgamaya(from the unreal lead me to the real)

Tamaso maa jyotir gamaya (from darkness lead me to light)

Mrityur maa amritam gamaya(from death lead me to immortality)

These verses echo the wish of becoming one. In Samadhi God realisation manifests and becomes a reality. It is communion with the highest SELF and Vedanta manifests in your transformed heart.

Paramahamsaji says that when you enter into true meditation you pass out of the limiting three-dimensional world and into the fourth dimension the Turiya, the transcendental regions of samadhi. This reveals all the experiences of the chakras, kundalini, Koshas, Lokas and it is the doorway to heaven.

Kundalini

The key is Kundalini and the doorway is Nirvikalpa Samadhi. When you merge through that door, you have earned the bliss and knowledge that purifies the heart completely. To attain this communion is to know freedom and bliss, and the power of Gods love, which is forever free to the seeker or perfected Sadhaka. This is said to be the way according to the yogic and many other spiritual traditions, where you reach the pinnacle or summit of your spiritual journey. There you gain the "Boon" or ability to get out of the merry go round of death, rebirth, etc. This is Moksha (Liberation) and Sri Yukteswar continues by adding that there even evolution for the nearly perfected ones who remain in higher realms beyond the confines of time.

Some evolved Masters choose to come back so that they can selflessly help humanity remember their spiritual journey. This is a far way off for nearly every one of us on earth today except for maybe a handful of advanced yogis (Adepts) in India today.

The key is well known to be the Kundalini Phenomena but this important Physiological, Psychological, Psychic and Spiritual reality has been ignored or swept aside in our race for materialism. In every developing nation on earth the push of technology is on. People see machines as providing the answers and the means to happiness and success. There has to be a balance, we can not be totally brainwashed by the media etc. and think for a minute that a mind saturated with unnecessary sensory overload is the real way to harmony, peace and enlightenment.

Millions and Billions of dollars are spent annually to market the latest products which we can mindlessly amuse our senses.people should know that the Goal of life is not a bank account, it does not cost anything. And as Paramahamsaji says -It is closer than your own breath, closer than your own mind and you don't even have to get out of yourself. By looking within the imminent (ourselves) we become aware of the transcendent infinite reality that has no distinctions of Caste, religion, nationality, faith, wealth etc.

In the classic Text on Yoga the "Avadhoota Gita" Dattatraya 9 classically exemplifies the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. This text is a sublime song of enlightened truths, uttered from such a high state of communion, that it is held in highest regard by all monistic Vedantins and in particular the "Nath" tradition of Yogis from Northern India.

In India and Nepal he is revered with Deity status. He is a legendary ascetic Yogi and the Patron deity of many ascetic Yoga traditions. He speaks from a state of consciousness so far beyond duality and confusion. His words are sutras or threads of immortality totally beyond delusion. He has merged into what would be known in the west as "Christ" total consciousness. They are at one, with the heavenly father or mother.

The Avadhoota Gita is a classic text describing the evolved state of the Avadhoota Sannyasin, which is the stage beyond a Paramahamsa 10,when the sadhaka or master Yogi becomes totally merged in cosmic consciousness.

Chap V111 verse 5 Dattatreya instructs his disciple:

V5      wisest men, well versed in their letter and spirit of the Veda who discuss the Vedas and the aim of the Vedas, should understand the meaning of the word:

Avadhoota

V6       A         means free from the snares of desire, pure in the middle, pure in the end one living in eternal joy.

V7       Wa      means free from passion, free from pollution, one who lives in eternal consciousness of self.

V8       Dhoo   means with a pure mind, without suffering, though limbs are soiled in dust, and living beyond meditation, beyond concentration.

V9       Ta       means beyond activity, beyond anxiety, beyond ignorance and vanity, meditating on Truth (Satya).

This is just a glimpse at how the Sage Dattatreya explains the Avadhoota - totally transcendental awareness. The Nath Avadhootism period is said to have began pre 400BC and continues to this day.

Paramahamsa  Satyananda is said to have now moved into the stage of an Avadhoota, merging the Spirit whilst still in the physical body. Homogenous and total awareness, he is living in the infinite bliss of a supreme Bhakta. This is how I think of evolution, as an infinitely long journey of countless births and rebirths, each time learning and experiencing a little bit more. Two steps forward, one step back as more karma keeps accruing.

A couple of years ago on a guru poornima night, I had a dream that I would like to share with you. Before I went to sleep that night, I was slightly upset because I would not be able to make it up to Mangrove Mountain Yoga Centre for the annual guru poornima celebrations. I was spending the weekend with my children at home, but that night my mind was somewhere else. That night I had a dream that I was sitting on a park bench and Paramahamsaji was sitting beside me. In front of us was a table, as I looked ahead at the table, a small luminous grand piano appeared that was strangely hovering above the table.

As I kept on watching the piano it started playing a tune, the chanting celestial music had me mesmerized and also I was puzzled about it's appearance. I said to Paramahamsaji, "Swamiji, why is it that we take form?" (Take on a body). Swamiji was silent so I pondered to answer it myself. Then I said to him "Aha, to develop feeling" and then Swamiji placed one arm around my shoulder and hugged me.

Bliss descended through me like the heavens had opened; it was so powerfully ecstatic that I lost my awareness totally. When I woke up and recalled the dream, I was still feeling the bliss and all that I could think of was 'God is love, love is God'.

Many disciples will recognize this experience of bliss. This was the second time that I had experienced this transforming feeling of Bhakti which is intense bliss. I long to experience this feeling again and again, and to develop this feeling.

For me Guru is the key that can show the seeker the way, Guru knows the disciples desires ego and faults, their highs and lows. He can guide the disciple in dream and visions, whether people believe this fact it matters not. When the Guru appears again and again in moments of dream, spiritual lessons can be learnt and truths revealed.

When kundalini awakens the energy can be projected out of the body. The subjective inner experiences can become objective e.g. manifest externally outside of your body. If your Guru is your object of inner devotion, then the Guru can appear astrally. This is Darshan, spirituality manifesting. Now it may be possible to communicate mind to mind or spirit to spirit, non-verbally. This is evolution, the higher circuitry beginning to awaken the nervous system to its full potential and allowing access to previously dormant faculties that ultimately purify your total being. Beginning with our physical body, pranic body, mental body, psychic body and finally spiritual body.

This Avadhoota state is comparable to someone who has awakened and purified all of the koshas (sheaths which encase the spirit) and has transcended everything. They are resting in their inner self in the anandamaya kosha (body of bliss). One foot in heaven, and one foot on earth.

Being also in the physical presence with someone as evolved as this e.g. Paramahamsa Satyananda can have a profound effect on many levels of your organism (from the most subtle to gross). I remember quite vividly the first time I met Paramahamsaji in Munger in 1988; extraordinary things just began to happen. Once I was sitting in a room on the top floor of Ganga Darshan where Swamiji was giving Darshan and Satsang to a small group of Indians in Hindi. It was a long Satsang and I didn't understand any of it, but towards the end of the talk a strange phenomenon happened. I was thinking over some questions that I might like to ask Swamiji when I had the chance. When all of a sudden, right in front of where Swamiji was sitting a scene (vision) appeared.

To put it briefly, it was the very answer to the thought that I was having. Then Swamiji spoke in English and asked me if I had any questions. I had many questions to ask but I decided to ask one for a friend of mine back home who was having some psychic experiences. Swamiji then said that I should come and see him later in private later, and the meetings that followed later during my stay will remain etched in my heart forever.

He is a mystic; visionary and a spiritual man who makes my heart overflow with joy and respect when I think of him. He has developed his multi dimensional awareness, not only so that he can finish his own journey but so that he can help others, and show others the way or path to the highest self realization. His path is the path of the Paramahamsas and Paramahamsa’ji is building it so that others like Paramahamsa Niranjanananda and any other sannyasins that reach that state may follow.

This is evolution but to scientifically study it or analyse it you would have to be in their body, experiencing what they are experiencing. This sounds very impossible or unlikely. To understand the physiology or the perceptionof one as evolved as this you would have to analyse many things such as: Neurotransmitters (chemical messengers), (CSF) Cerebrospinal fluid, (CNS) the nervous system, Cellular metabolism, Oxygen uptake, DNA etc. etc.

It is very unlikely that an evolved soul would care to be bothered by scientific scrutiny.

The keys to real spiritual life, which reside with the likes of the Paramahamsas and Siddhas, will forever remain a mystery, beyond exploitation and misuse etc. Science, if it is ever to validate the Kundalini phenomena will have to rely on lesser-evolved Sadhaks, which are still bound by their egos, karma's and desires (albeit maybe diminished).

A recent book that I have been reading is called "Quantum healing"11 (exploring the frontiers of mind/body medicine) by Deepak Chopra M.D. He is a respected endocrinologist and ayurvedic physician. In chapter thirteen, which is aptly, named: 'Body of Bliss', he quotes:

"Bliss the vibration that intelligence sends into the world. In fact we can map our existence in terms of a single diagram that compresses mind, body, DNA and bliss into one individual whole"

My question is; what is the intelligence that sends the bliss vibrations ( The Anandamaya Kosha which is the subtlest realm of manifestation), into our body? Deepak Chopra states that there are receptor sites on all the cells of the body, that when unlocked produce bliss from every cell in the body.

Neurotransmitters have to match up with receptor site specifically designated for the incoming neurotransmitter to allow it to perpetuate the next neuro-chemical reaction in every cell of the body/brain. Neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers are not only chemicals, their reactions are also happening on an atomic/subatomic (pranic) level.

One-day scientists may discover the neurotransmitter for bliss, but will this transform a person and awaken cosmic consciousness or psychic spiritual capacities. Will this make our society a more harmonious place to live and bring up our children? I hope so, if science can go this far into the mystery and help society to become more compassionate, friendly and spiritual then it will assist to break down global barriers that exist today. Imagine the world, as we know it now slowly being transformed back into a golden age of brotherhood and spirituality. It would lead to a change in the very structure of our DNA, which could be transmitted down to our children and future generation as a positive genetic restructuring.

Sociologically speaking, society at large lacks guidance as to the true meaning of existence. We have to rely on what we are told by our parents, teachers, politicians and media as to what should be our priorities in life. What should be our goals and desires? We are taught to acquire a good education, a good job, property, wealth and prosperity, and then what?

We are all faced with the same questions when it comes time for the demise of the Physical body - death.

Why do many wait until the closing scenes of their life before they ask themselves about the possibilities of God? Is there a heaven or hell? Am I going upstairs or down below? Did I do any good deeds unselfishly without ego or ulterior motives during my stay on earth? Yoga says not to have these feelings at these closing moments, because it may be a window of opportunity for the afterlife. By regularly practicing the technique of meditation you can become accustomed to astral/psychic/spiritual perceptions. You will feel at one with your spiritual self (home), so that when the moment arises you will be accustomed to the light of love that whisks you off into another dimension.

Seeker, if you wish for guidance on spirituality deeply enough then you are a seeker. If your quest is great you will find your teacher of Guru who can help you onto the path. You may have to travel far and wide on your search, to distant lands. When you meet your true guru you will perceive a subtle connection deep within and feel at peace and an unburdening of desires.

Satya (truth) lies within but what is the way, how do I get inside to find it? There is a limit as to how far you can go with kundalini yoga sadhana and meditation etc. without seeking personal instructions from a master. A seeker it is said makes the journey to find their guru (one who dispels darkness) at the appropriate stage of their evolution. It is said that the master ignites the inner spark or light (much like a catalyst in chemistry) of the seeker and helps them with what they really need pertaining to their spiritual evolution.

Their words, which are filled with the essence of truth, are enough to set the sadhaka on the path. Sadhana or spiritual practices or instructions performed in accordance with the masters instructions help to speed up the process of evolution, which as is proceeding at a snails pace according to the laws of nature.

Spiritual instructions in Yoga as in many other traditions are passed on along an unbroken chain (Lineage) of masters. For instance in India since mellenia the correct method is:

Guru/ Param/ Para.

The Chela or aspirant receives instructions directly from their Self-realised Guru. The Guru had received their training and instruction directly from their Guru, which is the Chelas Param Guru. This tree of transmission and instruction continues all the way back through the tradition, sort of like your spiritual link with the ancient masters.

As an example, Saraswati is the order or lineage that I have been initiated into. Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati is the Guru or Preceptor that is now instructing and guiding students and disciples. The next Guru above Swami Niranjan is Paramahamsa Satyananda Saraswati whom has since 1988 remained in virtual meditative seclusion perfecting his sadhana. Paramahamsaji received his instruction and inspiration from the great Yogi, Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh (Divine Life Society) and so on, back along the lineage to the founder of the Dasnami Sannyasa tradition which was headed by Adi Shankaracharya the original Guru and codifier of the Sannyasa tradition.

 India

Although these great souls have disciples on every continent it is highly recommended to make the effort to meet a real master of reality in India. India is the real home of yoga where you can really imbibe the spirit of Yoga which has been echoing and permeating the hearts of seekers for thousands of years. It is a wondrous land and journey in history and evolution itself. Even in India in a couple of months time there will be the largest spiritual gathering on earth.

I am referring to the Maha Kumbha Mela, which happens at Allahabad every twelve years. This festival and gathering has been happening since before recorded history was even recorded in India. Many Mellenia. It attracts many millions of seekers who go there to bathe in the mythical Saraswati River and wash away their karmas. There they meet with thousands of Sadhus 12(renunciate ascetics) and swamis in there thousands. Many Gurus travel from all parts of India, Nepal the Himalayas to be there. Some of these masters have lived for decades high up in the Himalayas undisturbed by the changing society, perfecting their communion of Samadhi. I admit of having a strong desire to be there this year, but the reality for me is that my bank balance does not agree. Oh well there is always the next time in another twelve years time.

This is another example of spiritual evolution on a Grande scale. Highly evolved souls interacting and guiding seekers who are less connected to the source of inspiration, light love and bliss. Awareness can be infinitely developed and is a vehicle of the soul for higher awareness. This is an important part in the training of Satyananda Yoga, which is a system developed by Paramahamsa Satyananda to impart the necessary tools of SELF-development. This training that we do side by side with our daily practices or Sadhana has integrating effects for the body/mind/psyche/spirit as a whole.

I think personally that this is a distinguishing facet that may be lacking in some other systems of Yoga that have appeared in the west in the last 20 years or so. Systems that do not include the Guru / Disciple & Shishya relationship, (which works on many levels, such as shakti transmission), Yogic Philosophies, and the disciplines of Pranayama and Meditation in combination with asana for instance are lacking transformative technology and techniques, which are necessary to call it a complete Yoga.

Summary

Experience, learn and teach what you can, on this:

Journey in Self Discovery

I am forever happy that I stumbled onto this path of Yoga. I am also grateful for the connection I first made when I met my first sannyasin disciple of Paramahamsa Satyananda's.

That was Swami Satyamurti who was at that stage living in Wollongong and, luckily for me teaching down in the Shoalhaven area. It was about a one hundred and fourty mile drive (return) each week that she made too teach us new comers to real Yoga.

It is sort of ironic that now sixteen years later that I too have moved to Wollongong and I too am teaching Satyananda Yoga. In Wollongong at that time were a very dynamic trio of Swamis. The other two swamis were Swami's Dharmananda and Siddhamurti, who was also my teacher and the one who asked me to begin teaching Yoga back in 1986. I hope that I will be able to inspire and encourage Yoga students as they did with me.
